It started with a simple frustration — the seasonings on supermarket shelves were bland, generic, or loaded with fillers and anti-caking agents that had no business being in a spice jar.
TheChap set out to fix that. Drawing on the rich cooking traditions of West Africa, East Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and East Asia, each blend was developed to capture an authentic flavour region — not a watered-down approximation of it.
From the bird's eye chillis of West Africa to the sesame and ginger of East Asia, every ingredient is chosen with intention — and every ingredient is organically sourced. TheChap Global operates under Texas Cottage Food Law — a small-producer framework that allows artisan food makers to craft and sell products made in their own kitchen. It's the same path taken by some of the most beloved condiment and spice brands before they scaled.
For us it means every single jar is mixed by hand, in small batches, with full control over quality and freshness. There's no warehouse shelf ageing between the blend and you.
Each batch produces 25 jars. When a batch is done, it's done — until we make the next one. That's how freshness stays non-negotiable.
TheChap Global was founded by a home cook who grew up eating boldly seasoned food — West African pepper stews, smoky East African BBQ, fragrant Mediterranean roasts — and couldn't find anything in a US supermarket that came close.
The early blends were made for friends and family in an Austin kitchen. Word spread. People kept asking where they could buy the seasonings. That question became this brand.
